Coffee Meetings for Emerging Filmmakers

You’ve made a short — but have you found your film community?
This is for folks who have a few projects under their belt and are now ready to keep going, but are looking for people to do it with.

Whether you’re a director searching for a producer, a writer looking for someone to bounce ideas off of, or a multi-hyphenate building your crew — this is a chance to meet collaborators who are also figuring it out, one project at a time.

Our coffee meetings week sends you out on two intentional 1:1 coffee meetings with people who are in the same boat — whether they end up on your next call sheet or just someone to rant about the state of LA filmmaking.

This is for folks still in the early stages / messy middle — looking to build, learn, and find collaborators who get it. If you’ve made a few shorts and are already leveling up to features, you are welcome to join as a mentor.

How It Works:

1. Fill Out the Form
Quick multiple choice — tell us who you are, what you do, and your general availability.

2. Get Matched
We pair you with two filmmakers based on role, goals, and creative vibe — using a mix of algorithmic matching and human curation.

3. Coordinate Your Meeting
We’ll send you your matches, contact info, and our fav LA coffee spots. To prioritize the best pairing (not just who’s free), you’ll coordinate the final time directly with them.

4. Show Up and Make It Count
Two 45-minute conversations that cut through the networking noise.

5. The Round Up Mixer
At the end of the week, we will host an LA mixer only for coffee meeting attendees to chat with each other.

Timeline:

Sign-Ups Open: Monday, August 4th

Sign-Ups Close: Monday, September 1st

Matches Sent: Monday, September 8th

Coffee Meetings Take Place: September 9th - 19th

Round Up Mixer: Saturday, September 20th @ 7pm

Who This Is For:

• Filmmakers who’ve are starting out in the industry (1-3 years of doing this) OR if you are down to be more of a mentor*.

• People actively building toward their next project / looking for new collaborators

• Directors, writers, producers, actors, editors, DPs

• Anyone in LA during September 9th - 19th.

A note on the fee: Our LA Coffee meetings + mixer are serving as a fundraiser for our next project. This is our form of CrowdFunding.

*A note to expierenced filmmakers:

If you’re interested in joining our Coffee Meetings Week as a mentor, we’d absolutely love to have you. While this is primarily geared toward early-career creatives, we know how valuable it is for newer filmmakers to connect with people who’ve been through it before — and how refreshing it can be for more seasoned folks to meet the next wave.

Since this initiative is also a fundraiser for our next project, we’re asking all participants (mentors included) to contribute the $25 fee. We hope you’ll see it not just as a “donation” (gift), but as a meaningful way to meet new collaborators, share what you’ve learned, and support the indie film ecosystem in LA.
